AVJC gives artificial limbs to needy persons

JAMMU, Aug 4: Shri Atam Vallabh Jain Clinic organised 444th artificial limbs camp today at Kali Janni, Fattu Chogan in the city here
In today’s camp, 63 patients were examined. Out of them, 15 artificial limbs (below knee) , 3 artificial limbs (above knee), 5 KAFO and 4 AFO were given to the needy persons. In addition, Limbs and Callipers of other 36 persons were repaired for their regular wear and tear reasons. All the persons coming for aid were provided tea and lunch.
Shri Atam Vallabh Jain Clinic is a social organisation working in the field of health and medical sciences. This institution is working from 1981 and is serving people of Jammu and other places in the field of health.
Pardeep Jain, general secretary of the organisation said that they are serving people with free medicine, OPD with highly qualified Doctors and para medical staff. Dental and Opthalmic units are also working with only nominal charges. MDS and MS Doctors are working to give best possible aid to patients. All the required medicines are given free of cost.
In addition to all this, artificial limbs and callipers are manufactured as per the patient’s requirement and given to them free of cost. This was started in 1987 by the then Governor Jagmohan. “Since then we are working and conducting regular monthly camps from 1st Sunday of every month for three days in collaboration with “Shri Mahavir Viklang Sahayata Samiti”, Kota (Rajasthan),” he said.
Highly qualified doctors and technicians give their best to held the specially abled persons to join the main stream of the society as common and normal persons. Patients from within the Union Territory of J&K from far flung areas and from neighbouring states of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh also come for new artificial limbs (Popularly known as Jaipur Foot) and Callipers. “Till date we have conducted 443 camps and today’s camp is 444th one. We have given limbs and callipers to about 9000 people. In addition we provide wheel chairs and tricycles to the needy people without any charges,” Jain said.
