AVTAR team arrests three drug peddlers with heroin, weapons

JAMMU, Mar 20: Anti Vehicle Theft and Recovery (AVTAR) team arrested three drug peddlers along with 10 grams of heroin and two sharp edged weapons (tokas) from Shastri Nagar area.
As per police sources, the special squad AVTAR constituted by SSP Jammu Dr Sunil Gupta today laid a naka at Shastri Nagar near Cremation Ground.
During checking, a Honda Accord car bearing registration number PB65D-1918 was signaled to stop for checking, but the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot.
Stinking something fishy, cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 10 grams heroin and two sharp edged weapons (tokas) from the vehicle and arrested three persons.
The accused have been identified as Babbar Choudhary alias Babbar, son of Syed Ahmed of Chak Mohd Yar, RS Pura, Vipan alias Sahab, son of Romesh Kumar of Nai Basti and Rohit Choudhary, son of Ram Pal Choudhary of Raipur Satwari.
A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) and Arms Act has been registered against them at police station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
AVTAR team headed by SHO Gandhi Nagar DySP (P) Mir Imtiyaz Ahmed assisted by PSI Javed Iqbal Choudhary made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Sachin Gupta and SP South Shaazad Salaria.
