JAMMU, Sept 19: Krishi Vigyan Kendra in SKUAST-J organized one-day awareness-cum-demonstration camp on Urea Molasses Block (UMB) for the use in supplementary feeding of animals at KVK, R S Pura.
During the programme, Dr Rajiv Singh, Head Medicine, informed the farmers that locally feeds are deficient in protein, minerals and vitamins and are poorly digestible. Both these characteristics keep intake and productivity low, he explained and said that supplementation with Urea Molasses Blocks (UMB) can increase digestibility of fibrous feeds, the nutrients and feed intake.
Dr Sanjay Khar, Programme Coordinator KVK Jammu, urged the farmers to come forward to use this technology efficiently for full potential of their animals and also to generate entrepreneurship among them.
Farmers were shown different demonstration units present at KVK Jammu and motivated to adopt them whichever is best suitable for them. They were also assured to get all the help at the KVK and their farm itself if it is required to establish any unit or agriculture related problems at any stage.
Scientists from KVK Jammu, Dr Vinod Gupta, Prem Kumar, Dr P K Rai and Dr Anil Sharma were also present during the training programme and provided all necessary information to the farmers.
