KATHUA, Mar 8: An awareness camp was organized today in the office of ICDS Project, Purmandal, Bari Brahamana.
The camp was largely attended by adolescent girls and anganwari workers as well as helpers from all over the district.
During the camp, speakers drawn from various areas of the district threw light on various issues including international cycle of malnutrition, nutritional care of pregnant women, nursing mothers, children and adolescent girls, women empowerment and a numerous schemes for their welfare.
Dr Madhu, a supervisor in ICDS Project, highlighted issues like early childhood care, education and development, nutrition care and counseling, health services and community mobilization and threw light on various schemes including SABLA, Ladli Beti, State Marriage Assistance scheme for poor girls, Hunnar and Aasra.
She called upon the workers to disseminate the awareness further so that benefits of these schemes reach to the actual beneficiaries and empower women at the lowest/grassroot level.
The camp concluded with vote of thanks by Usha Sambyal.
