JAMMU, Nov 25: Dr KS Risam, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu inaugurated one day awareness-cum-demonstration workshop held under TIME LEARN programme, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India at Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST Jammu RS Pura to review the research projects going on in the three States of J&K, HP and UK.
Farmers from districts Jammu, Samba and Reasi also participated in the workshop.
The workshop began with an exhibition of latest technologies developed under different projects for improved production in agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry. The exhibition was an exemplary illustration of transfer of technology from lab to land.
After the exhibition, a Farmer-Scientist discussion was also held, which was highly beneficial for the farming community.
The Vice Chancellor assured to conduct training progarmmes in far flung areas of Jammu districts as demanded by the farmers attending the programme. He further said the University is always ready to help the farming community.
Among the expert lectures delivered under TIME LEARN Programme, Dr Subhash Nautiyal from HESCO gave a brief outline of 20 projects. Dr. Santosh Warpady from Shimla discussed the problems faced by apple farmers. Apart from it, Dr. Rajesh Srivastav and Dr Sushma Dadich presented a detailed report of outcome of water conservation programmes and development of land for vegetable production.
Dr Rohit Rattan briefed about the critical topic of wildlife and human conflicts, technologies developed and measures undertaken to reduce them. Dr. Rajesh Katoch and Dr. Utsav Sharma gave comprehensive presentation about economic upliftment through backyard poultry rearing and use of hormonal protocols in improving production of dairy animals. They further revealed the impact of sustainable control of parasites in poultry and dairy production in Kandi areas of Jammu region under their project.
Dr Rakesh gave complete presentation on agriculture production and various inputs about value additions in Uttarakhand state.
The workshop was attended by Dean, FVSc and AH and project investigators, Co Investgators, RAs, SRFs and Project Assistants of TIME LEARN Programme.
