JAMMU, Jan 31: A one-day awareness program on Ayushgram scheme of National Ayush Mission was organized today by Directorate of Ayush J&K in village Shamachak of Block Marh of Jammu district.
The Program was attended by Block Development Council Chairman, officers of the line department, Block Medical Officer Marh, CDPO, Anganwadi supervisors, representatives of the Panchayati Raj Institutions and public from all walks of life.
Dr Mohan Singh (Director Ayush J&K) presided over the program. He was accompanied by Dr Rakesh Kumar Raina (Assistant Director Ayurveda) and other senior officers of the Ayush Department.
On the occasion, a yoga demonstration was also organized by Yoga instructors and school children led by Yoga expert Dr Neha Jolly while Dr Suresh Kumar Sharma introduced the general public about the scheme of Ayush Gram and its various components.
Dr Aftab Iqbal Divisional Nodal Officer for development of Herbal Gardens in AHWCs delivered an awareness lecture on the common medicinal plants which are available in the surroundings of the Ayush Gram.
Dr Arun Gupta highlighted on the holistic nutrition and emphasized on the role of millets in health promotion and eradication of non-communicable diseases while Dr Wahid Ul Hassan delivered a lecture on various schemes of cultivation and marketing of medicinal plants.
In his address, Director Ayush J&K urged the residents of Shamachak to avail various Ayush components which are being delivered under this scheme like Yoga classes by Yoga instructors. He also highlighted various benefits of cultivation and consumption of millets and their value added products.
He also visited AHWC Shamachak and directed the concerned officers to develop a nursery of medicinal plants in the AHWC so that general public can have an easy access to medicinal plants for cultivation and growing home herbal gardens.
On the occasion, Dr Pawan Kumar Sharma, Dr Neetan Dutt and Dr Anuradha examined more than 200 patients who were provided Arogya Raksha kits and other necessary medicines in the camp organized on the venue.
