SRINAGAR, Dec 6: An awareness programme on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) was organised by the Associated Hospital, Government Medical College, Baramulla here today.
The programme was held with collaboration of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS).
Under the patronage of the Principal of GMC Baramulla, Dr. (Prof.) Ruby Reshi, the program was organised to emphasize the vital significance of acquiring basic life-saving skills for people both within and outside the medical field.
In her message, Prof. Ruby reaffirmed the importance of learning CPR by everyone, underlining its potential to save lives and make a lasting impact in emergency situations.
Dr. Parvaiz Masoodi, Medical Superintendent of Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla, ensured, besides his guidance, that all necessary infrastructure and manpower were in place for the smooth conduct of the program.
The program commenced with an online address by NBEMS President Dr. Abhijat Sheth, who reiterated the importance of learning CPR to prevent young cardiac deaths.
This was followed by a demonstration of CPR techniques by national-level experts, Dr. Sanjeev Mittal, and Dr. Debasis Dhar from NBEMS. The online demonstration was followed by hands-on training for the participants, comprehensively delivered by GMC experts, including Dr. Afak Sherwani, Senior Consultant General Surgery, and Dr. Yasir Bashir, Assistant Professor General Medicine.
The experts also delivered comprehensive presentations on Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support, expanding participants’ knowledge and understanding of these life-saving techniques.
Dr. Waseem Iqbal, Assistant Professor Pediatrics and Nodal Officer DNB Courses GMC Baramulla, were also present on the occasion.
