Awareness rallies mark International Day against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking across J&K

JAMMU, June 26: Awareness rallies marked the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking across the Jammu and Kashmir.
To observe the day, Directorate of School Education Jammu organized an online interactive session with the Government schools students of winter zone through Jammu and Kashmir Knowledge Network (JKKN). Director School Education Jammu Anuradha Gupta interacted with the students of fifty five schools from winter zone including some schools from Kashmir Division. Romesh Kumar Head counselling Cell DSEJ acted as resource person.
On “International Day for fight against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking”, Crime Branch, Jammu carried out awareness programmes by organizing rallies in Jammu City. Two teams were formed at Zonal Crime Headquarters, Jammu and were flagged off from Zonal Crime Headquarters, Jammu by Mushtaq Ahmed, Incharge SSP Crime Branch, Jammu.
Anti drug programme was organized at SP Smart School, Exchange Road. More than 200 students and teachers took part in the programme. SDPO City Jaswant Singh delivered the talk and apprised the students about the ill-effects of drugs.

To observe the day, a cricket match was organized which was played by veteran cricketers. The match was jointly organised by the Bhadarwah Circket Academy and Directorate of Youth Services and Sports. Director General Youth Services and Sports, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Samir Malik, Coordinator Bhadarwah Cricket Academy and many others were present on the occasion.
Excise Department in collaboration with Youth Association for Service of Humanity and Nation (YASHN) organized anti drug abuse rally in Poonch on International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. On the occasion posters were distributed to spread the awareness among masses.
GRP Katra observed the day in collaboration with “MASHWARA” (JKSPYM). On the occasion Ranjit Singh Sambyal, SSP Railways Katra, alongwith SDPO Railways Katra, SHO Police Station GRP Katra and other officers and officials of GRP Katra took a round of Katra Town in the departmental vehicle duly decorated with anti-drug banners. Anti drug pamphlets were also distributed on the occasion.
International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed by Foods and Drug Administration, J&K. Mass awareness rally was organized jointly by the Narcotic Control Bureau Jammu and Drugs Control Department Jammu. The rally was flagged off by DIG Vivek Gupta in presence of officers from Narcotic Control Bureau Jammu and Drugs Control Authority. A mass awareness rally was also organized at Tehsil Bishnah by the Food and Drugs Administration Jammu. An awareness program-cum-symposium was also organised at JD Public School, Bye Pass, Bishnah.
Administration of Sub Division Mendhar in collaboration with Higher Secondary School Boys Mendhar organized an anti-drug rally in Mendhar town. The rally, which was attended by huge number of students, was flagged off by Sahil Jandyal SDM from school premises.
Principal HSS Mendhar Mohammad Alam, SDPO Mendhar Neeraj Padyar, SHO Mendhar, DySP Sajjad Mir and staff member of the HSS Mendhar were also present on the occasion.
To observe the day, District Police Samba organized a rally and seminar on “Drug Abuse” at Government Degree College Samba. The rally was flagged off by Dr Koshal Sharma, SSP Samba, Swati Gupta, Sub Judge, Chairperson District Legal Service Authroity, SS Sambyal, President Bar Association Samba, alongwith other officers of Police and Civil administration from town Hall Samba. A seminar in GDC Samba was organized by Samba Police and certificates were given to the participants and students.
International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed by Excise Range Doda Kishtwar, Ramban and Doda Police at District HQ Doda. A rally was organized which was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Doda in presence of SSP Doda and other officers of Police Department.
Toll Post Railway Station Jammu organized International Day against Drugs Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Dr Gurmeet Kour, In-charge Rehabilitation Centre Police Hospital was the chief guest on the occasion, while representative from J&K Tanker Union SS Karate, Truck Union Kamaljeet Singh, Inspector Excise Department Gurpreet Singh and Excise and Taxation Officer, Toll Post Railway Station Jammu Mohammad Farooq Choudhary were also present.
Student Wing of NCP under the chairmanship of Er Rishi Kaul Kilam National Executive Council Member NSC held a meeting regarding illegal drug menace and abuse here in which large number of party activists and prominent civil society members took part.
To observe the day, a drug awareness programme was organized in Police Station GRP Jammu, in which members of civil society and drivers of vehicles operating from Railway Station Jammu took part. A large number of participants spoke on the occasion including Ranjit Singh Sambyal, SSP GRP Jammu, Anita Pawar SDPO GRP Jammu, Vinod Kumar SHO GRP Jammu and others.
To observe the day, District Police Reasi organized anti-drug rally. The rally was organized by Dr Wasim Hamdani, DySP Headquarters Reasi and Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan Additional SP Reasi and assisted by SHO Reasi Inspector Ashwani Sharma under the supervision of Nisha Nathyal, SSP Reasi. Kamlesh Pandita, Principal and District Sessions Judge, Reasi was the chief guest while Indu Kanwal Chib, DC Reasi was guest of honour. Meanwhile, Sub-units of District Police Reasi also organized the rallies against drug abuse and illicit trafficking at Dharmari, Bhambla, Pouni, Chassana, Katra and Mahore.
Anti drugs awareness rally was organized by SHO Miran Sahib SI Gurupal Singh which started from New National Higher Secondary School Talli Morh Miran Sahib and culminated at Main Bazaar Miran Sahib. Additional SP Headquarters Jammu, Tehsildar RS Pura and locals Sarpanchs and Panchs also participated in the rally.
To celebrate the day, anti drug rallies were organized by District Police Ramban at Ramban, Banihal and Gool. Large number of respectable citizens including students participated in the rallies. In Ramban, the rally was flagged off by SSP Ramban Anita Sharma from Government Higher Secondary School Ramban which later concluded near Cafeteria More.
Nat Manch in association with District Police Jammu organized Anti Drugs Rally on the eve of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The rally was led by Founder and President of Nat Manch Tarun Sharma. The rally started from Shakti Nagar and concluded at Maheshpura Chowk.
On the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, a rally was organized by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Jammu Zonal Unit in which Border Security Force (BSF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Drug Controller, De-addiction Centre, Jammu and artists of Nav Durga Kala Manch as well as local public participated. The rally was flagged off by Vivek Gupta, DIG in the presence of Virendra Kumar Yadav, Zonal Director, Narcotics Control Bureau, Jammu.
To observe the day, Sangam Theatre Group Reasi in collaboration with District Administration Reasi performed a dogri nukkad natak “Koto Galla Nashe Da” at bus stand Katra. On the occasion Additional District Development Commissioner Reasi Romesh Chander was the chief guest. Ashok Kumar Choudary SDM Katra, Shashi Gupta Chairman MC Katra, Dr Umesh Shan ADT Katra, Shami Kumar ARTO Reasi, Nirmal Choudary CEO Reasi, Ravi Nag Member MC Katra, BK Roy member MC Katra, and other officials from the District Reasi were present on the occasion.
Government Degree College Banihal organized a rally to observe “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking”. Principal GDC Banihal, Deepak Kumar PTI of the college, Dr Shafiq Ahmed Katoch (AP Urdu), Dr. Khursheed Alam and many others were present on the occasion.
To observe the day, 2 J&K Girl BN NCC of GDC RS Pura organized a Poster Making Competition under the guidance of Principal of the College Dr Sunita Sudan and supervision of Lt Shaveta Chowdhary, ANO.
Government High School Sathra observed the day, in which students expressed their views on the ill effects of drugs. Incharge Headmaster of the institution Arif Hussain, Rajinder Singh Physical Education Teacher, Farooq Ahmed Master and all staff members of the school were present on the occasion. Later, a rally was also taken out.
To observe “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking”, Doda Police in collaboration with Excise Department organized awareness rally on drug abuse at Doda in which students of different schools and officers from Police and Civil Administration participated. A rally was taken out, which was flagged off by DC Doda Sagar Doifode and SSP Doda Shabir Ahmad Malik. A Nukkad Natak related to drug abuse was also shown to the students by Jony Riaz Director Chenab Rescuer Team. A debate competition was held at Bhaderwah and PCPG meetings were held at Kandhote Thathri, Bathri and High School Khara.
In order to mark International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police organised a series of events across Rajouri district. These programmes were held under the supervision of Additional SP Rajouri Liyaqit Ali and Additional SP Nowshera GL Sharma and under the overall supervision of SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas. The events were held at Budhal, Sunderbani, Higher Secondary School Manjakote, Government Higher Secondary School Solki Dharamsal, Kotranka, Himalayan Education Mission School Rajouri and Thanamandi. A talk was delivered to the students and other participants in a similar program at ITI Rajouri by SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas in presence of DC Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad.
On occasion of the International Day against Drugs Abuse and Illicit trafficking, a spate of programmes were held by District Police Jammu across the district. SHO Bishnah organized anti-drug awareness rally in Bishnah, which was flagged off by SDPO RS Pura Sourabh Prasher and SDM South.
District Police Kishtwar organized anti-drug district level debate contest at the Hall of Degree College Kishtwar today. A large number of participants spoke in the contest amidst hundreds of students, youths, police, security and civil administration officers. Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana was the chief guest, while SSP Kishtwar Shakti K Pathak, CO 52 Battalion CRPF, DySP Headquarters Kishtwar Sunny Gupta, DySP DAR Kishtwar Iftikhar Ahmed, other police officers and teachers of various institutions were present on the occasion.
On the eve of ‘International Day against drug abuse and Illicit trafficking’, Udhampur police took out a rally. The rally was flagged off by Rajiv Pandey, SSP Udhampur from District Police Headquarter Udhampur in the presence of Dr Rohit Chadgal DySP HeadquartersUdhampur, Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary SHO Udhampur and other officers and officials of District Police Udhampur.
98.3 Radio Mirchi kick started a week long celebration of awareness against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Mirchi Shwetima and Mirchi Nishant visited various schools and interacted with the kids and spread awareness regarding the topic in Jammu and Mirchi Rafia and Mirchi Mehak visited schools in the Valley. Mirchi Shwetima and Mirchi Nishant were at two different KV’s namely KV No.1 Gandhi Nagar and KV No. 2 Jammu Cantonment. Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kumar and SSP Jammu Tejinder Singh shed light on the sensitive subject and made sure students would understand the importance of the same.
International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed in Government HSS Parnalla District Kathua under the chairmanship of Principal Kamlesh Bhagat. Students from various institutions participated in the programme. Rattan Chand, Karna Singh, Bishan Singh and Vinay Gupta organized the programme.
To observe the day, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan in close coordination Sangam Tru Art Production presented a play on drug abuse and illicit trafficking. The program was inaugurated by the chief guest Dr Tara Singh Charak, Former Deputy Director, Health Department. Among others present were VK Magotra, former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Dr Anju Kumari Dogra from Directorate of Health, RP Amla, Director of the event and ML Dogra, Chairman BLSKS.
Awareness program was organized on the eve of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit trafficking in collaboration with Civil Defense, Kathua at Govindsar Kathua by the J&K Excise Department Excise Range Kathua. More than 100 locals including parents, teachers and prominent persons of the area attended the event. Dhian Chand, Ex MLA, Civil Defence Chief Warden, Roshan Sharma and many others attended the programme.
International Day against Drug Abuse and illicit trafficking, 2019 was organized by J&K State AIDS Control society (Department of Health and Medical Education), J&K in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry, GMC Srinagar at OST Centre, Department of Psychiatry, GMC Srinagar. Dr Kaiser Ahmed Koul, Principal/ Dean GMC Srinagar was the chief guest, while Dr Tabasum Jabeen, Deputy Director, Blood Transfusion Services, JKSACS was the guest of honour. Red Ribbon Clubs from Bibi Halima College of Nursing, Amar Singh College, Srinagar, Alamdar Memorial College of Nursing and Shah Institute of Paramedical Sciences, Budgam also participated in the function.
Kathua Police conducted series of anti drug rallies and organized drug awareness programs in District Kathua on International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Ramnish Gupta, Additional SP Kathua flagged off two anti drug rallies at Lakhanpur and Kathua. Kathua Police also organized awareness program on drug abuse in collaboration with DLSA Kathua. Arti Mohan Secretary District Legal Services Authority (Sub-Judge) Kathua, Additional SP Kathua, Ghansham Singh ADC Kathua, team of doctors from District Hospital Kathua and others officers were present in the programme. Drug awareness programmes were also held at Village Bandhore in Rajbagh and in the jurisdiction of Malhar, Bani, Billawar, Hiranagar and Basohli Police Stations.
District Child Protection Unit Rajouri and National Progressive Youth Organization (NPYO) observed the day at Panorama Higher Secondary School, Rajouri. The Child Protection team comprising LCPO Shivangi Kant, Rubina Kouser, Ponic and Aadil Majeed Lone Councilor shared their valuable views. Vikrant Sharma, Chief Resource Person from NPYO and students also shared their views. The whole programme was organized by Soonam Sharma, General Secretary NPYO and Zakir Hussain, senior faculty of the institution.
On the occasion of the International Day against-Drug Abuse and illicit trafficking, SHO Police Station Pacca Danga organized anti-drug awareness programme at Luthra Academy, Pacca Danga in which students and school staff participated.
SHO Police Station Bakshi Nagar organized anti-drug rally at Bakshi Nagar area in which youth, corporators, citizens and members of Market Association participated. The rally was flagged off by SDPO City West Amit Sharma from Jagat Resort Shakti Nagar, Jammu.
On the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, SP Rural, Suram Singh, along with SDPO Domana Yashbir Singh Slathia and Incharge PP Chinore SI Deepak Bharti conducted anti-drug awareness program at Trikuta Group of College, Nardani, Raipur.
Ramisht College of Education, Plahi (Basohli) observed International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The campaign started the speech delivered by Dr. Saifullah Khan Principal of the college. Students also presented their views on the drugs abuse. Parveen Singh Assistant Prof and Ruchi Sharma, Assistant Prof also expressed their opinions.
International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed at BSF Campus Paloura, Jammu. On this occasion many awareness programmes and lectures were organized to educate force personnel at different BSF locations. Public meetings were conducted on drug abuse and HIV for the awareness of border population. Dr Karnail Singh, Comdt (Medical) BSF Hospital, Jammu, Dr Abhishek Chouhan from GMCH Jammu, Dr Pallavi Sharma, SMO 127 BN BSF and Dr Rashmit Kaur, GDMO 62 BN BSF were also present on the occasion.
SHO Police Station RS Pura Inspector Rajeshwar Singh organized anti-drug rally in RS Pura Town, in which youth, prominent citizens of R S Pura, Sarpanch and Panch of adjoining area participated.
J&K Police in Poonch district conducted anti drugs awareness rally at Poonch, Surankote, Mendhar, Loran and Mandi on observe International Day against Drugs Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. In Poonch, anti drug awareness rally was flagged off by DDC Poonch Rahul Yadav and SSP Poonch Ramesh K Angral from District Police Lines Poonch.
SHO Police Station Bus Stand Inspector Rajesh Jasrotia organized a painting competition on this day at NIFD Hall near Indira Chowk, Jammu where a large number of students and youth participated.
A rally was organized to mark the day at Government Industrial Training Institute Jammu, in which NCC cadets/trainers participated along with ANO/CT Sumit Chandail under the guidance of Rajindra Kumar, Principal.
SDPO City West Jammu, Amit Sharma and SHO Janipur Inspector Harmohinder Singh organized anti-drug rally in Janipur area, in which schools students, members of market associations, corporators and prominent citizens of the area participated.
On the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, SDPO Akhnoor Ajay Sharma and SHO Akhnoor Inspector Sanjeev Gupta organized anti-drug seminars at Akhnoor Town. A seminar was held where chemist, drivers and prominent persons of the area participated. In the second seminar, students from different tutorials participated. During seminar, brainstorming about the causes and effects of drug abuse were discussed. SHO Gharota Inspector Rajinder Sharma, SHO Police Station Khour and Incharge Police Post Jourian were also present on the occasion.
SHO Police Station Arnia SI Bansi Lal organized anti-drug rally in Arnia Town. The rally started from Government Higher Secondary School, Salehar and passed through whole town and adjoining villages. A large number of people from all walks of life participated in the rally.
On the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, SDPO Domana Yashbir Singh Slathia organized anti-drug awareness programme at Sunrise Commuters Institute, Mishriwala under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kanachak.
On the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, SDPO Nagrota Mohan Sharma conducted an interactive session at Kandoli, Nagrota which attended by large number people including youth, Corporators, Sarpanchs, Panchs and prominent persons of the area. The participants were briefed about the drug menace and its harmful effects.
On the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, DIET Kud Udhampur under the supervision of PD Sharma, Principal DIET Kud organized inter school symposiums, painting and skit competitions at GHSS Sudh Mahadev. 13 students from 4 schools participated in the symposium competition in which Ashtmi Sharma of Krishna Memorial Academy Sudh Mahadev, Manohar Sharma of GHSS Sudh Mahadev and Arya Gupta of Green Valley Academy Sudh Mahadev stood first, second and third respectively.
