Awareness workshop on domestic violence laws organised

JAMMU, Oct 9: In a significant effort to promote awareness about domestic violence laws, a workshop on this topic was organised by Dogra Degree College & Dogra College of Education here today.
Advocate Kiran Thakur, a certified cyber security expert and human rights lawyer, conducted a highly informative workshop titled “Rights, Responsibilities, and Remedies, Domestic Violence Awareness Workshop” to mark Domestic violence awareness month (October).
She made the students aware about the Meaning of Domestic Violence and gave an in-depth insight to the students about the related areas of Domestic Violence and it’s various causes.
She also presented amongst the students a detailed analysis of various cases of Domestic Violence that came to the forefront on the past few years and also put light on the reasons that why their number is rising in the society in the recent times.
The Resource persons also made the students aware of the various legal provisions and laws which are related to Domestic Violence and the related cases. She also guided the students how they can safeguard themselves from such cases of domestic violence if they get trapped in or may come across.
Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust was the Chief Guest of the function.
He appreciated the efforts of Kiran Thakur, Advocate and Dhira Foundation who took it as a social responsibility to make people and especially youth aware about such social evils such as Domestic violence.
Dr. Bela Thakur Principal Dogra Degree College and Vikesh Kumar Sharma , Principal Dogra College of Education presented a moment to the Resource person as a token of love.
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Daksha Koushal, President students’ council Dogra Degree College.
The programme was well conducted by Minal Gupta, student of semester 3rd Dogra College of Education. The programme ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
