Axis Bank posts 19% increase in net profit

JAMMU, Jan 17: Axis Bank today approved the financial results for the quarter and nine months ended December 31 with posting a 19 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 1,604 crore for the third quarter. The bank had registered net profit of Rs 1,347 crore for the October-December quarter of last fiscal, 2012-13.
The other income (comprising fee, trading profit and miscellaneous income) for period grew 14 per cent and stood at Rs 5,192 crores as against Rs 4,544 crores during the same period last year. Savings Bank Deposits recorded a healthy growth of 21 per cent YOY to reach Rs 69,627 crores as on December 31, while Current Account deposits grew 5 per cent YOY and stood at Rs 42,072 crores.
During this period Bank added 96 branches and 532 ATMs to its network across the country and at the end of December 31, had a network of 2,321 domestic branches and extension counters and 12,328 ATMs situated in 1,580 centres, compared to 1,787 domestic branches and extension counters and 10,363 ATMs situated in 1,139 centres.
The Bank opened its branch in Shanghai, China to become the first Indian private sector bank to set up a branch in China.
