JAMMU, Feb 24: A meeting of AYUSH doctors working in PHCs under NHRM across the state was held here today in which the problems faced by AYUSH doctors working under NHRM were discussed.
A statement issued by Dr Aejaz Rasool secretary AYUSH Doctors Association said the meeting while terming the Government decision regarding inclusion of Amchi system of medicine under the aegis of ISM Department observed that for the last four years no supply of AYUSH medicines has been provided to AYUSH doctors working in PHCs under NHRM, thus putting a soldier on border without ammunition.
He said on the one hand Government was laying stress on prescription of AYUSH medicine to the patients while on the other hand no AYUSH medicines are provided the PHCs. This is despite the fact that finds to the tune of more than 20 crore were sanctioned by Government of India for the very purpose.
It said while BMOs in PHCs put AYUSH doctors on roster duty compelling them to deal with emergencies but no medicines were supplied to them. They AYUSH OPD is made to suffer denying the people the choice of AYUSH treatment which is gaining popularity day in and day out across the State.
The Association has demanded immediate AYUSH supply to PHCs, AYUSH doctors working under NHRM be brought under the directorate if ISM, J&K on the analogy of Amchi system of Medicines to allow these system of medicines to flourish as more and more people in India but across the globe are turning for treatment of life style related diseases and primary health care towards these holistic system of medicines.
It also demanded appointment of AYUSH doctors in NTPHCs, CHCs and SHDs, work of ISM doctors should be maintained separately, pay anomaly and incentives of AYUSH doctors be brought at par with their counterparts working in NHRM and proper infrastructure be provided to AYUSH units.
