Maharaja’s State Subject law was more liberal: Dr Jitendra

JAMMU, Jan 11: Union Minister of State for AYUSH Sripad Naik today said that his Ministry will take all steps to boost Ayurveda System of Medicines in Jammu and Kashmir UT.

Addressing a one day national seminar organised by Regional Ayurveda Research Institute for Urinary Disorders (RARIUD) Rajinder Nagar, Bantalab here, today on Ayurveda and Integrative Medicines and its contemporary Relevance as well as a brainstorming session on AYUSH & Integrative Medicine -Scope and Challenges, he said an integrated research will be done on Ayurveda in scientific way to provide more benefit to the people of this UT.
The Minister said that J&K has a lot of potential for growing medicinal plants and his Ministry will exploit this for the benefit of the people. He said already some work has been done in this regard and an research institute has been sanctioned by AYUSH for Bhaderwah also.
The Union Minister said the Government is taking all steps how to boost the Ayurveda System of Medicines in J&K and today’s seminar has been organised in this context under the PM’s outreach programme.
The seminar was jointly inaugurated by Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State in PMO Office and Union Minister of Ayush, Sripad Naik, Lt Governor J&K, G C Murmu and Joint Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH Roshan Jaggi.
Addressing the seminar Dr Jitendra Singh said that such programmes are being held in J&K under Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s outreach programme and all Ministries of Union Government will visit J&K to organised functions of their respective ministries under the outreach programme one by one so that the people of UT are benefitted by the public welfare programmes of Modi Government.
Dr Jitendra Singh, while taking a dig at those political parties who were misleading the people on the name of State Subject law said that Mahraja’s State Subject law was much more liberal. He said Maharaja brought some people from outside to establish Research Institutes and Industry in the J&K.
Under his State Subject law any person establishing industry or any Research Centre in the J&K after residing here for 10 years permanently was entitled to get the State Subject. But this was undone later by the National Conference (NC) and Congress Governments who altogether denied State Subjects to outsiders. Those opposing the granting of State Subjects to outsiders and creating hue and cry should understand that what spirit was behind the law, he added.
He said the importance was given to outside settlers in J&K before 1947 and those opposing the citizenship right to outsiders are misleading the people.
RARIUD is the peripheral Institute under Central Council for Research in Ayurveda Sciences (CCRAS) Government of India which organised the seminar.
This is a first seminar held in J&K after the formation of Union Territory on October 31 last year.
The seminar started with the welcome address of Prof K S Dhiman, Director General, CCRAS, New Delhi. Dr Ram Vishwakarma Director IIIM Jammu delivered the key note address on the subject while Dr Kelki Bapat Scientist from Pune, Dr Anup Thakur, Vice Chancellor, Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar also addressed the delegates during various technical sessions. Dr Satish Rao Baglururu, Dr Chandrashekhar Ra, Dr Manohar Gundeti, Membai delivered the presentations.
The function was also attended by Principal Medical College Jammu, Dr Sunanda Raina and Dr Mohan Singh, Director ISM J&K.
Dr N Srikanth, Deputy Director General, CCRAS, New Delhi delivered vote of thanks .
