SRINAGAR, June 1: Former Union Minister and senior All India Congress Committee leader Ghulam Nabi Azad and AICC secretary, in-charge J&K affairs of the party , Shakeel Ahmed Khan are arriving here tomorrow to discuss humiliating poll debacle of the party with the senior PCC functionaries in the State.
Party sources said that AICC general secretary and Incharge J&K affairs, Ambika Soni was also scheduled to attend the meeting at Srinagar but due to health problem, she will not be part of meeting this time. The meeting is expected to be held at 4 pm in a hotel, followed by Iftaar party.
PCC chief, Ghulam Ahmed Mir, who was himself contesting Lok Sabha elections from Anantnag constituency, when contacted said that proposed meeting will be held at 4 pm on Sunday. Azad will preside over the meeting. At least, 5 senior party functionaries from each Lok Sabha constituency are expected to take part in the meeting. He said several members from Jammu including Madan Lal Sharma, Tara Chand, Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla, GM Saroori and Ravinder Sharma will be attending the meeting.
The members would discuss the performance of the party, shortcomings, causes of defeat and also chalk out strategy for next Assembly elections in the State. He said the party leadership will infact go for introspection and discuss ways to bring improvement in the weak areas. He also disclosed that Ambika Soni was not coming due to health problem.
