Azad, PCC leaders visit Darshan Raina’s family

JAMMU, Dec 17 : Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad today visited the house of Late Darshan Raina at Brij Nagar to offer condolences to the bereaved family.
Senior Congress leader, Raina passed away on Thursday after brief illness and was cremated on Friday.
Azad arrived here from New Delhi by morning flight and went straight to the residence of Raina and offered deep condolences to the family over the untimely demise of Congress leader. He was accompanied by several senior leaders of the party.
Azad described Late Raina as a dedicated Congressman and pillar of the party who served the people of the area throughout his life. He was grass- root leader of the party and held responsible positions right from Youth Congress. He consoled the family members and said that his services will be always remembered in the party.
Meanwhile, a condolence meeting was held at PCC headquarters here today which was attended by senior Congress leaders, functionaries of PCC and DCC Jammu. The meeting deeply condoled the sad and untimely demise of Darshan Lal Raina, a senior Congress leader who passed away on Thursday. The speakers paid rich tributes to Mr Raina and recalled his contributions in the party and in the service of people. They expressed sympathies with bereaved family members. A two- minute silence was observed to pray for peace to the departed soul.
The meeting was presided over by Anil Chopra- DCC Jammu (U) president and attended by senior leaders Raman Bhalla, Kanta Bhan, Jahangir Mir, Ravinder Sharma, Rajnish Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Manmohan Singh, Namrata Sharma, Kuldeep Raj Verma, BS Sambyal, Krishan Lal Gupta, Gurdarshan Singh, Shashi Sharma, Thomas Khokher, Manjeet Singh Jatt, Dr Kanwal Singh, Gurmeet Singh Sudan, Sukhdev Singh, Saleem Naz Mughal, Inayatullah Rather, BB. Gupta, Madan Lal Malagar, Jai Singh, JL Koul and others.
