Srinagar, Jan 31: Several people who had their shops inside 15 CBS Khrew and were later deprived of the same in 2019 today stage a protest, urging the concerned authorities to roll back the unilateral decision.
A number of such shop owners assembled here in the Press Enclave and were seen raising slogans in favour of their demands while urging the GoC 15 Corps to intervene in the matter.
“We have been operating the shops there for the last more than 20 years and all of a sudden in 2019, we were told to vacate,” said Zahid Sultan a resident of Ladoo who had a shop inside the 15 CBS Khrew.
He said that after they were told to vacate, in October 2019, they were not allowed to enter the area where they operated their shops. “Then we went to the court, even though the court passed judgement in our favour, but we were still not handed over our shops,” he said.
The protestors said that on June 19, they protested in the Press Enclave, following which they were called by the concerned officer who assured them that by October last year they would get their shops back.
“But October has passed, even the entire previous year and the first month of the New Year is also gone, but we have seen nothing,” the protestors said.
The protestors have urged the concerned officers to look into the matter and ensure that the shops which they used to operate are handed over back to them.
