Addressing monthly ‘Awaam Ki Awaaz’ Radio Address this morning, Sinha referred to the Back to Village 5 programme launched by the Union Territory Government from November 7-16 during which administration visited all 4291 Panchayats to address issues of the people and review progress of previous deliverables and said though the programme has ended on November 16, its activities will continue throughout the year.
“Our target is to bring changes in the lives of people and carry out development of the villages,’’ he said, adding today the women are marching ahead and Dalit and Adivasis are progressing.
Asserting that all sections of society are now getting equal opportunities, the Lieutenant Governor said Back 2 Village was carried out in all 4291 Panchayats and the people benefited in all sectors be it Education, Health, Agriculture etc and there were encouraging results.
Sinha said his administration’s B2V programme envisages a renewed focus on social and economic empowerment of villages in the Union Territory.
He said the aim of the programme is to bring a paradigm shift in the rural socio-economic system and make villages a vibrant force of Jammu and Kashmir’s development by taking services to the people’s doorstep across 4291 Panchayats.
The 10-day fifth phase of the B2V programme concluded on November 16. Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir administration held four phases of the programme between 2019 and 2022.
“The B2V campaign, a unique endeavour of the UT administration envisages a renewed focus on the social and economic empowerment of villages. Its main objective is to bring about a paradigm shift in the rural socio-economic system and make villages a vibrant force of J-K’s development,” Sinha said.
He said the B2V programme gives another big message that many challenges can be tackled through ‘janbhagidari’.
“We must make mutual cooperation a permanent feature in the development journey of our villages,” the Lt Governor said, reiterating the resolve of his administration to promote equitable and inclusive development, based on the ideals of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar.
“Through his speech, Babasaheb had drawn the country’s attention towards social equality. In the last nine years, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this cherished goal has been realised and a record 13.5 crore people moved out of multi-dimensional poverty,” he said.
Without referring to abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India, Sinha said during last four years, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed development and new opportunities.
“Never in the past such a development scenario was witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir which has been seen during last four years. All sectors are progressing and credit for this goes to the people of the Union Territory,’’ he added.
The Lieutenant Governor said the scenario that prevailed in Jammu and Kashmir for last seven decades has changed in last 38 months where the common man is working for his good future. Deprivation has ended and new Jammu and Kashmir is developing, he added.
