KATHUA, Oct 7: Senior J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) leader and ex-MLC, Thakur Balbir Singh has termed the Back to Village (B2V) three programmes started by the Government as a futile exercise.
The Congress leader during tour of Hiranagar, Chandwan, Sakta Chak, Chadwal, Seswan, Dayala Chak and Jasrota areas of Kathua district met locals there.
He claimed that third phase of Back to Village programme has failed to serve the purpose and the Government is misleading with official figures with no developmental activities on ground.
Singh also said that senior officials visit selective areas and routine work is shown as special for photo session purposes only to befool the people.
Singh also said that there is no development with condition of roads in villages, water supply in Kandi areas and electricity supply there has exposed the working style of the Government.
“The officers and officials at district and block levels have ignored the people,” he said, adding that the Government has failed to perform on the ground.
Singh claimed, two Back to Village programmes have already failed and the third one seems to have been launched to cover-up the failures of the previous programmes which have yielded no result.
Speaking on the deplorable health facilities in GMC Jammu and other Govt hospitals, the Congress leader said these hospitals are unable to take care of COVID patients and it has compelled many to get treatment from Punjab.
He further said if ventilators are there, operators are not available with the hospitals and defected oxygen supply has marred the hospitals and common masses have lost faith in the health facilities of Jammu.
Kandi areas, he said, have always faced step-motherly treatment from the Government.
“No special recruitment drives were held for the youth living at International Border in Kathua. Villages have poor roads with poor electricity and water supplies,” he maintained.
The Congress leader was accompanied by Block Congress Presidents Jagdish Singh, Kewal Singh, Rajesh Kumar Bunty, Ex-Sarpanch Brij Lal, Bram Raj, Samar Singh, Sarpanch Nikku, Ghati, Sarpanch Kumar Manglam, Naib Sarpanch Makkan Singh, Retired Manager J&K Bank PP Singh, Youth Congress General Secretary Devyansh and others.
