KATRA, Sept 10: Baaridaar Sangharsh Committee, Katra has asked the BJP, RSS and other Hindu organisations to clear their stand on Govt control over Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji Shrine.
“It is important because ever since the filing of the writ petition in the J&K High court seeking Hindu control and management of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji Shrine, many BJP office bearers have initiated a slander campaign saying that the control and management on Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji shrine should not go to any Hindu religious denomination and must remain only with the Government appointed and controlled Shrine board,” said Sham Singh, president of the committee, while addressing a press conference, here today.
He said that the double speak and double standards of BJP on the issue of Government control of Hindu religious institution was causing a serious dent and damage to Hindutva movement and the Indian civilization.
“While outside power, BJP’s position on the issue always remained that Hindu religious institution should be under Hindu control and when in power, they backstab Hindus by standing in favour of the Shrine boards,” he said and reminded that except Hindu religious institution, no other religious institution was ever taken over by the Government. Muslim, Christian, Sikh religious Institution are managed/controlled by themselves, he added.
Committee members also reminded that PM Narendra Modi in a public speech during 2014 election campaign had sought votes from Hindus and Baaridaars on the promise that if voted to power, BJP would hand over control of Mata Vaishno Devi Ji Shrine to Hindus which is also a constitutional requirement. “BJP lied through Prime Minister Narendra Modi on an issue which has a bearing on the future of Hindus. There can be no better instance or proof of backstabbing Hindus by BJP on the issue so pressing and dear to the movement of Hindutva,” they alleged.
Sham Singh said that Hindus would not tolerate any further selective attack by Governments on Hindu faith. “Hindus will not tolerate selective take over of their religious institution in violation of the Constitution, especially Articles 25, 26, 31A(b) and 14,” he warned and reiterated that a secular State/Government should have no business with the management affairs of a religious institution.
