Please refer to the feature ‘Baba Jitto Mela, Tribute to a Legendary Farmer’ June 24, 2018 Sunday Magazine. While complimenting the writer for giving a detailed description about the background of the Mela, I would like to point out that feature didn’t carry the current picture of this grand Mela. Fact remains that for last 5 years the community participation has multiplied so many times, and for this credit goes to the live show on the supreme sacrifice of ‘Bawa Jitto’ by the State’s prominent theatre group Natrang. Since last five years the group is regularly performing the mega theatre play ‘Bawa Jitto’ at the main ground of Aghar Jitto consecutively for two evenings which draws an audience of fifteen to twenty thousands. Hats off to this initiative which has raised the standards of this annual ritual to a cultural destination of world class. I would like to appeal the Government that such endeavors and initiatives should find top priority as Jammu Kashmir needs the revival of all community fairs in the larger interest of promoting culture, communal harmony and community participation.
