JAMMU, Mar 20: The Business Advisory Committee (BAC), which met today under the chairmanship of Speaker Mubarak Gul, authorized Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Saifullah Mir to personally request PDP Legislature Party leader Mehbooba Mufti to return to the Assembly and join proceedings of the House in the interest of democracy.
The BAC met at 1.30 pm today in which a unanimous decision was taken to authorize Mr Mir to approach the PDP to return to the House.
The PDP has been boycotting House proceedings since last Wednesday in protest against Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde’s statement refusing to return mortal remains of Afzal Guru.
The BAC, however, made no appeal to BJP to return to the House. The BJP has also boycotted entire remaining session yesterday to protest suspension of BJP MLA Jugal Kishore for rest of the session.
The BAC meeting was attended by Deputy Speaker Sartaj Madni, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Agriculture Minister GH Mir, Law Minister Saifullah Mir, MY Tarigami, Hakim Mohammad Yasin, Harshdev Singh, Ashwani Sharma, all MLAs, Law Secretary GH Tantray and Assembly Secretary Mohammad Ramzan.
