Backward Classes Union appeals Govt to settle demands

JAMMU, Dec 7:All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) has urged the Government to solve its long pending demands without further delay.
Talking to reporters here today president of the Union Abdul Majid Malik said there are various issues concerning the Backward Classes, which do not need any budgetary support form Government such as renewal of caste certificates on the basis of income certificates, inclusion of Lobana and Sher Gojri in the Central list of OBCs, issuance of only one certificate on the name of OBCs instead of OSCs and setting up of a separate OBC Corporation.
He in an appeal to Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, who is also the Chairman of OBC Development Board urged him to convene the meeting of the Board, which has been earlier postponed.
He demanded that the Advisory Board should discuss the issues of appointment of Chairman of and the members of the Backward Classes Commission among the OBCs who are called as OSCs.
He said the Union always raised the issue regarding misuse of Article 370 under the garb of which the due rights of the OBCs are snatched in the State. He urged the Government to shun this process of making misuse of Article 370.
Maintaining that no political party can succeed and go ahead with out the public support in a democratic set up, he said OBCs who constitute a vast population of the State can’t be ignored altogether.
He said the Government should solve the problems of OBCs at an earliest so that this major section of the society comprising of over 50 percent of State’s population can become the part and parcel of the State Government.
He announced induction of Manga Ram a retired Government Officer in the Central Committee as its member.
Others present in the press conference included Prof Kali Dass, Mouj Sharan, Master Sain Dass, Principal Nath Ram, Manga Ram, Sandokh Chand and Shambu Prasad.
