Backward Classes Union discusses demands

JAMMU, Sept 19:  A deputation of All India Backward Classes Union, under the chairmanship of Abdul Majid Malik, president of the union met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and apprised him about the sufferings of the State OBCs.
The meeting discussed recognition of the population of the State OBCs and said that 2% reservation by Anand Committee report is arbitrary and has not been based upon any census.
Many other points were raised which included making the State Commission for Backward Classes meaningful by appointing its chairman and members from the State OBCs, renewal of OBC certificate on the basis of income certificate; to grant scholarship  to every OBC student and other related issues.
