JAMMU, Apr 27: A protest demonstration was staged here today under the leadership of Gurmeet Singh, president Beopar Mandal and District general secretary Congress against sub-standard work done in the repair of Peer Mitha lane.
Speaking on the occasion Singh said that on the basis of complaints of the locals, the lane was again constructed afresh but just after three days it again acquired a bad shape as the ratio of sand and cement was not proper in repair work.
The protesters requested Divisional Commissioner Jammu to take strict action against the contractor responsible for the sub-standard work and stop his payments.
Singh claimed that the street was in very bad shape for the last two years and children as well as elders face problems in moving through it.
Gurmeet Singh toured the area and listened problems being faced by the residents and assured them that he would take all the issues including the problem of water shortage to the authorities concerned for solution.
He claimed that development and maintenance projects have not been taken seriously due to which the life of people has been disturbed.
Hardavinder Singh; Minta, Raj Kumar, Yash Sharma, Amarpreet Singh, Vijay Kumar and others were also present in the protest.
