BADP funds being utilized for creating assets in border areas: Abdul Haq

Jammu: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq today told the Legislative Assembly that funds provided under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) are being utilized for creating vital assets to facilitate the socio-economic development of the people living in the border areas.

Replying to a Question by Er Abdul Rashid, the Minister said the funds are mainly spent on allied works under Agriculture, Power, Rural Development, Youth Services & Sports, Forest, R&B, Health, Education, and CAPD. He also furnished the details of works undertaken under BADP in the border areas falling in Karnah, Kupwara, Handwara and Gurez constituencies during the financial years 2014-15 and 2015-16. He said the works are taken up as per the guidelines and available resources.
