JAMMU, Mar 7: Senior PDP leader and MP Muzaffar Hussain Baig has stressed the need for another freedom struggle against hatred. This was the gist of the speech which was made by him in the Parliament in response to the address of the President of India in the Parliament in which he had quoted Shyama Prashad Mookerjee claiming that the greatest strength of India was its civilization- its legacy.
Mr Baig in his speech pointed out, “I had learned this lesson from my mother when I was five years old. She explained to me the meaning of three verses of Holy Quran according to which God is the creator of all universes- not just one race, one nation, one planet but all universes”. The fundamental qualities of the divine are love, compassion and mercy. In his speech he said that civilization is an evolving process and not a static legacy. He said, “Men from different races and religions came to India over 5000 years and made their contribution to this civilization. Despite ups and downs, they all joined hands in freedom struggle against the white rule. However a few years before achieving independence, they fell victim to the colonial policy of Divide and Rule and the partition took place”.
He said unfortunately after liberating ourselves from the chains of white rule, we became salves of the black hatred which colonized our hearts! Servitude kills human souls. Without a soul, a nation like an individual is like a dead body, it makes no difference whether it is shrouded I white (British rule) or in black (our mutual hate).
He added, “now we all should again unite to liberate ourselves from the slavery of mutual hatred and mistrust. We, as representatives of the people, have to discuss the issues of vikas, poverty, hunger and illiteracy but sometimes we must also engage in a discourse of higher import like humanity, morality and universal brotherhood”.
Mr Baig also read out a poem in Urdu titled “Tabahi aur Umeed”.
