JAMMU, Feb 20: In a significant political development, former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig today once again disassociated himself from People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and highly praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his developmental initiatives changing the lives of people in the country.
While participating in PM Modi’s rally at Jammu, Baig claimed that he was not affiliated with PDP. “I am neither in PDP nor want to join it. Even if they invite me (to join), I will suggest them to think about national interest rather than personal benefits,” he said while talking to media persons on sidelines of the rally.
It may be recalled that Baig had formally re-joined PDP on January 7 and said that he had never left the party. He had claimed that he was inactive for quite some time, but did not quit PDP.
The latest development has come amid speculations that BJP is mulling to field Baig as Independent candidate from Baramulla Lok Sabha seat.
Stating that PM Modi wants to give J&K prominent place on India’s map through multiplier effect to the developmental works in last 5-10 years, Baig stressed that it was the duty of everyone to forget about their personal interests and join Modi in the national interest.
“If you go to the villages, at least 100 developmental schemes have been either implemented on ground or being implemented changing lives of people,” he said.
In response to the allegation by some opposition parties accusing Modi of pursuing Hind-Muslim divisive policies, Baig said this is the cruelest thing one can say about Modi, who never discriminated on the basis of religion or region.
