BARAMULLA, Nov 12: Member of Parliament, Muzaffar Hussain Baig, today chaired a meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee to review the physical and financial progress made by different departments under various centrally sponsored scheme during the current fiscal.
Threadbare discussions were held on physical and financial achievements of various centrally sponsored schemes, besides deliberating on certain bottlenecks in the way of effective implementation of these schemes.
Baig took a detailed review of the schemes with special emphasis on MGNREGA, NRLM, DDUGJY, PMGSY, IAY, NSAP, PMAY, SBM, NRDWP, PMKSY, SSA, RMSA, ICDS and PMUY.
Director Rural Development Department Kashmir, Gazzanfar Ali informed the meeting that under MGNREGA against an approved outlay of Rs 5867.58 lakh, about Rs 1864.71 lakh have been released out of which Rs 1831.17 lakh have been spent till date. He said 4623 works have been taken up out of which 2998 works stand completed till date.
It was given out in the meeting that 91596 job cards have been issued and 398057 numbers of man-days generated under MGNREGA, while under Pardhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana the MP was informed that Rs 1072.54 lakh has been released during 2016-17 out of which 712.43 lakh has been expended till date.
It was stated during the meeting that 46 new road projects have been sanctioned under phase 10 of PMGSY in district Baramulla, which includes 26 new connectivity roads and 20 up-gradations involving a cost of Rs 30255.70 lakhs.
The meeting was informed that under PMAY, Baramulla and Sopore towns have been taken for the implementation of the scheme and accordingly 294 beneficiaries in Baramulla town and 2752 beneficiaries in Sopore town have been identified.
Later, Beigh chaired Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting of district Kupwara. On the occasion, the DDC Kupwara Rajeev Ranjan highlighted the physical and financial achievements under various departments along with shortfalls and challenges.
The MP laid emphasis on close coordination and synergy among different departments to achieve the desired targets under various centrally sponsored schemes.
He directed the concerned agencies to speed up the pace of work on development projects and urged officials to utilize funds in a judicious manner.
Member Parliament Fayaz Ahmad Mir, MLAs of Baramulla, Gulmarg, Langate, Kupwara, Karnah and MLC Sonawari, besides DDCs of Baramulla and Kupwara and Chief Engineers, HODs of various departments, Executive Engineers of PDD, PHE and PWD and other district officers were present in the meeting.
