JAMMU, July 19: Additional Sessions Judge Doda Amarjeet Singh Langeh today rejected the bail applications of four LeT militants namely Showket Ali, Akhter Hussain, Abdul Rashid and Shafkat Hussain, who attacked Police Post Kahara and killed one SPO on May 8, 2017.
After hearing both the sides, the court observed, “targeting a police picket with a perplexingly meticulous plan in an obviously atrocious manner resulting in serious gunshot injury to one SPO and death of another- is prima facie a grave and heinous act attracting interalia, offence of murder under penal code which carries punishment of death sentence also”.
“The evidence led by prosecution does also lead prima facie credence to prosecution case. That apart, given the influence and kinetic means that petitioners have as is inferable from the manner they allegedly perpetuated occurrence in question – is yet another circumstance which dissuades the court to grant relief as prayed in the application”, the Additional Sessions Judge said.
