JAMMU, Nov 29: CJM Jammu Amarjeet Singh Langeh has rejected the bail applications of snatchers Balwinder Kour, wife of Kulwant Singh and Pavaneet Singh, son of Narinder Singh.
After hearing APP Kuldeep Bhat for the UT, the court observed, “while considering bail application of persons who seem to be prima facie habitual offenders, discretion to grant bail cannot be exercised in a whimsical manner and interest of society at large in such cases has also to be duly considered and taken note of”.
“In the case in hand, all factors viz nature and gravity of offence involved, character of evidence in support of allegations, punishment that the offence involved carries – which is up to ten years of imprisonment and general impact on public at large of the offence involved in the case – go poignantly against petitioners more particularly when investigation is at initial stage and subject matter of theft has not been wholly recovered”.
With these observations, court rejected bail application.
