Bail denied to woman in drug trafficking case

SRINAGAR, June 3: A Local court here today refused to grant bail to a woman involved in drug trafficking as the case diary reflects sufficient grounds for her involvement and recovery of contraband substance from her possession.
Principal Sessions Judge Bandipora has said that the accused Mehbooba Begum of Bandipora is not entitled for concession of bail at this stage as such rejected her bail application. Court said there is no doubt that the accused being a lady can claim bail in a non-bailable offence but there is sufficient evidence on record of the CD file then the concession of bail can be declined.
Court said the interest and life of the innocent youth are always at higher pedestal then the personal liberty of the lady accused. “Unless and until these accused should not be dealt with stern hands only then the message will be travelled to the other women folk from indulging in such type of activities”, Judge observed.
The accused was arrested by the police in case FIR 64/2023 under NDPS Act for involvement of illegal trade and business covered under NDPS Act.
