Palghar Lynching Case
THANE, Nov 8:
The bail hearing for the 38 other accused recently arrested in the Palghar lynching case was next scheduled on November 20 as the matter came before the special judge on Nov 6, informed applicants’ representative Advocate Amrut Adhikari on Sunday.
In his submission before the court, Advocate Adhikari argued that a second FIR can’t be filed for the same incident whereas three FIRs have been filed in this case.
Next, he contended, that the FIRs doesn’t name the accused hence casting a serious doubt on their involvement in the April 16 lynching of three men, including two sadhus.
Terming the identification parade as seemingly farce and of holding no value, he further said that the custodial interrogation of the present applicants had been over, the investigation is also completed and the charge sheets were filed.
In such circumstances, further detention of the applicants is not required, he asserted, adding that the bails should be given as the applicants are not involved in the gruesome killings.
So far, 229 persons have been arrested in the case and 28 of them were released as the charges were not framed against them. In the latest developments, four other accused were given bail whereas 11 juveniles have also been freed from the remand home. (UNI)
