JAMMU, Apr 26: Principal Sessions Judge Kathua, Vinod Chatterji Koul today rejected the bail application of Rashpaul and Jatinder Singh, who were involved in smuggling of narcotics.
After hearing both the sides, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “Rashpaul and Jatinder Singh are facing trial before this court along with 10 other accused for offences punishable under NDPSA”, adding “the allegations against Rashpaul and Jatinder Singh are that 1800 capsules of parvanspas were recovered from them”.
“While most people use drugs to help, some choose to abuse them. This is what leads to crime, and it affects our kids and society. Illegal drug use has to stop. It hurts the society, it hurts us, and mainly, it hurts the user”, the court said, adding “if this is allowed to continue, the crime rate will shoot sky high”.
“Drug use has increased over the years at an alarming rate and can be fatal to a person’s health”, the court said, adding “the recovery from the accused falls within the scales of commercial quantity being more than 500 grams”.
With these observations, Court rejected the bail application of both the accused persons.
