Baisakhi celebration begins at Paddar, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Shrine

KISHTWAR/REASI, Apr 13: The Baisakhi Utsav celebration was today kicked off with multifarious activities in Paddar by District Administration Kishtwar in collaboration with JK Tourism, Indian Army and BRO while the celebration started in Reasi by organizing a mega 2-day festival by District Administration along with other religious and social organizations.
The event in Paddar (Kishtwar) was graced by Deputy Commissioner Dr Devansh Yadav, ADC Inderjeet Singh Parihar, ASP Rajinder Singh, ACR Varunjeet Singh Charak, SDM Paddar Dr Rishi Kumar Sharma along with Tehsildar Atholi Satish Kumar, BDO Nagseni Anjil Singh, BDO Dachhan Ravi Kumar, officers of the Indian Army Lt Col 17 RR Anshuman Patil, 2 OC BRO besides district and sectoral officers as well as PRIs.
The celebration featured a range of activities, including River Rafting, Wrestling (Dangal), Beach Volley Ball, Rapling & Zip line near the river bank of Gosi, Paddar. The local cuisine stalls, showcasing the local and traditional taste of Paddar, were also put up by NRLM SHG members which were inspected by DC and other dignitaries.
The Baisakhi Utsav celebration also featured a musical programme that saw performance of local artists and musicians. The participation of the Indian Army and BRO added to the festive spirit of the event. The event also provided an opportunity for the Indian Army and BRO to interact with the locals and learn more about their customs and traditions.
In Reasi, a mega 2-day festival was organized at Dera Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Shrine. During the inaugural function, a ‘shobha yatra’, was also taken out in which hundreds of devotees took part and paid obeisance at the revered Shrine of Dera Baba. The devotees from across the UT and also from neighboring states of Punjab and Haryana visited the Shrine and prayed for peace, progress, prosperity and well being of one and all.
DDC Chairman Saraf Singh Naag was the chief guest on the occasion. He said Reasi district of J&K is unique for many reasons as it is bestowed with unique religious and scenic spots for which it is one of the favourite destinations amongst tourists and pilgrims and every year lakhs of devotees from across the UT and neighbouring states visit this unique district.
On the occasion, elaborate arrangements were put in place by the District Administration which includes langars, medical camps and necessary protocols.
