JAMMU, Sept 6: For up skilling youth in core engineering sector, the Bajaj Engineering Skills Training (BEST) centre of excellence was inaugurated at SASTRA Deemed University here today.
The centre was inaugurated by Dr N S Kalsi, Former Chairperson of National Council for Vocational Education & Training.
Dr S Vaidhya Subramaniam, Vice-Chancellor of SASTRA, welcomed the gathering and G Sudhakar, Vice-President, CSR – Bajaj Auto presented the programme highlights.
Ravi Kyran Ramasamy, CHRO of Bajaj Auto Ltd. in his Guest of Honour address highlighted Bajaj Auto’s focussed approach in skills training through BEST, its flagship CSR initiative.
With world-class lab set-up and modules created by senior leaders and engineers of Bajaj Auto, BEST at SASTRA aims to skill engineering graduates and diploma holders from tier 2 & 3 cities/towns in both contemporary and evolving technologies to improve employability.
Bajaj Auto will be expanding the BEST program to 15 centers with a capacity to train around 10,000+ engineering/diploma graduates every year and has committed to spend around INR 350 cr towards this project for the next 3 years.
On the occasion, over 15 industry partners like TVS, Brakes India, Belrise Industries, MM Forgings, India Pistons, HL Mando, Janatics and others have submitted LoIs to not only recruit the trained graduates but also engage with BEST for their workforce up-skilling.
The BEST Centre is equipped with state-of-the-art training facilities in Advanced Manufacturing Technologies & Industry 4.0. Currently, 150+ students (GTEs and Diploma Engineers) are undergoing BEST training in the first batch.
The Course is approved by the All-India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) as an equivalent to the internship semester credits for engineering students.
