MENDHAR, July 22: The two villages of Balakote forward and Lajiot, lying closer to the Line of Control ( LoC) in Mendhar sub sector of Poonch district are without power supply.
The villagers of the area alleged that about a fortnight back, the electric transformer of the area went out of order and field staff of the PDD placed it down at the site from the poles and for the last two weeks, it is still lying there. Neither it has been shifted to the PDD workshop, nor replaced by the concerned staff. There is total black out in the area for the last two weeks and the PDD has failed to restore power supply and replace the damaged transformer.
The Panchayat members of these villages have sought the intervention of PDD Chief Engineer (M&RE) Jammu and DC Poonch into the matter. They alleged that PDD field staff is least bothered about the matter and the water supply has also been badly hit in the area due to power failure.
