Balbir gets Ambedkar Award for service to weaker sections

JAMMU, Mar 24: In recognition of his service to the weaker sections of the society and concern for their socio-economic upliftment, Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes Development Corporation, Vice Chairperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, has been presented Dr. Ambedkar National Award-2017.
In an impressive function held here, today, International & National Awardee and Managing Director of Dr. Ambedkar Group of Convent Schools, Gian Chand Dogra, presented the  Dr. Ambedkar National Award-2017 to Balbir Ram Rattan, in presence of Dr. Ashwani Jojra, national president, Sehyog India, J&K, Ravinder Kumar Pandita, Managing Director, J&K, SC, ST, BC, Development Corporation and  Chetna Dogra, Principal, Dr. Ambedkar Convent School, Rajpura, Jammu. He was presented a memento, a shawl and a certificate as a token of honour and respect.
A large number of social activists and prominent citizens from different walks of life had gathered to shower their blessings on the new awardee.
Gian Chand Dogra, on this occasion, spoke on the life of Dr. Ambedkar and also the objective of starting Dr. Ambedkar National Award. He said that there are a number of dedicated and hard working people in the society who have been putting their best efforts for the welfare of the members of the weaker sections and they need to be recognised so that others also get inspiration to come forward for the service of the poor and needy. ‘
Dr. Ambedkar Group of Convent Schools not only provides quality education to the poor students but it also encourages all such people who stand for the cause of the weaker sections’ said Dogra.
Dr. Ashwani Jojra, in his address, said that anyone who works for the down trodden is indeed a true human being and he or she should be honoured at every recognised platform.
Ravinder Kumar Pandita had high appreciation for the management of the Dr. Ambedkar Group of Convent Schools and said that they are performing very noble service for the needy sections.
A popular Ladakhi Artist and Director, Phonsok Ladakhi, recited a self written poem on Dr. Ambedkar, who received applause from the gathering.
