JAMMU, Dec 8: Senior BJP leader and former Minister, Bali Bhagat today strongly criticized the Congress-National Conference (NC) alliance, accusing them of harboring a hidden agenda to permanently settle illegal Rohingya immigrants in Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed serious concerns over the restoration of water and electricity supply to Rohingya settlements, calling it a betrayal of the trust reposed by the people in democratic institutions.
In a strongly worded statement, Bali Bhagat said, “Congress-NC alliance has once again exposed its duplicity. While they claim to protect the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, their actions indicate a calculated attempt to alter the region’s demographic and socio-political fabric, enabling the settlement of illegal immigrants in the region.” He further alleged that the Alliance is misleading the public by raising the rhetoric of protecting land and job rights, all while working to strengthen the presence of Rohingyas in Jammu.
The former Minister praised the bold decision by Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to disconnect water and electricity supplies to illegal Rohingya settlements, emphasizing the Government’s commitment to addressing unauthorized occupation. However, he lambasted the Congress-NC coalition for reversing this decision within a day, accusing them of prioritizing illegal settlers over the welfare of Jammu’s native population.
Highlighting the swift action taken by the alliance Government to restore water and electricity supply to Rohingya settlements within a single day, Bali Bhagat warned that this could pave the way for further demands from illegal immigrants. “It will not be long before the Congress-NC alliance begins fighting for the rights of these illegal settlers, undermining the interests of the native population,” he said and cautioned “Let me remind them-this is not Manmohan Singh’s Government but Narendra Modi’s Government. Such appeasement politics and Jihadi mindsets will not be tolerated in New India, he added.”
