Bali Bhagat shows concern over power crisis, people’s miseries

Seeks LG’s intervention

JAMMU, June 20: Expressing serious concern over the dismal power scenario on account of irregular power supply, senior BJP leader and former Minister, Bali Bhagat sought intervention of Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to devise a fool proof strategy to address the power crisis being faced by the people of Jammu region.
Lamenting that unscheduled power cuts have become a daily rather hourly routine thus making the life of the people miserable in the scorching summer heat, the former Minister said that as if all this was not enough that the people have been receiving excessive bills despite power supply for hardly a few hours in a day. Moreover the Power Corporation concerned has been issuing faulty bills putting the power consumers into serious trouble for none of their fault, he said, adding that power cuts and fluctuations have badly affected the normal life of elderly, ailing people and children.
The senior BJP leader expressed great anguish over curtailment of power in several areas wherein the smart meters were installed with an assurance given by the Power Department to provide regular power supply but still the people facing unscheduled power cuts.
Bali Bhagat said that people of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory are expecting a big boom in power production so that the same is sold to other States to generate huge revenue as a result of which the power consumers of this Union Territory are expecting charges at very nominal rates. He reiterated his appeal to the LG to direct power authorities to avoid unscheduled power cuts and streamline the billing process so that the power consumers’ who are mostly the common people, get a big relief.
