Bali calls on Union Health Minister

NEW DELHI, Aug 3: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat today called on Union Minister for Health Jagat Prakash Nadda here today and discussed the development issues of various health projects in J&K.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education Dr Pawan Kotwal, Director (P&S) H&ME, M.L Bhagat and other officers from Central Government.
During the meeting, a wide range of issues were discussed pertaining to construction of Kathua and Doda Medical Colleges for which funds of Rs 51 crore for each project have already been released by the Central Government.
The Minister stated that land has been acquired and DPR for both the projects and BOQ have been completed and the tenders will be floated shortly by PWD (R&B) Department which is the executive agency involved in it.
The Minister also appraised the Union Minister regarding the transfer of land for the construction of AIIMS at Jammu and Srinagar.
During the meeting, the Minister laid stress on the establishment of a Burn Injuries Unit and that a proposal regarding this has been submitted by the State Government with an estimated budget of Rs 4.7 crore. It was decided that the team from the Central Government will visit the Burn unit site this month.
The Minister requested the Union Minister to release funds for setting up of the PET scan machine in Jammu Medical College at the earliest, so as to provide adequate facilities to the patients suffering from cancer.
The Union Minister assured full support from the Central Government and asked the State Government to complete all modalities regarding making available land and ancillary facilities for the prestigious projects of AIIMS at Jammu and Srinagar.
