JAMMU, Aug 29: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat today inaugurated Modular Eye Operation Theatre at Government Medical College here.
The Minister said that the new operation theatre is equipped with state-of-the-art equipments and will go a long way in providing the right ambiance for performing complex surgical procedures. MLA Jammu West, Sat Sharma was also present at the inaugural ceremony.
Elaborating on the newly established facility, the Minister said that GMC would soon start Cornea Transplant Surgery for which the patients had to go to other states.
Asserting that modernization of health infrastructure is Government’s top priority, the Minister said that upgrading of facilities will not only ensure better health services but also facilitate the doctors to perform multiple procedures of various specialties simultaneously.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA West, Sat Sharma said that upgrading of healthcare facilities will ensure better patient care and diagnostic facilities in GMC and its associated hospitals.
Bali Bhagat also inspected various wards and units of GMC and took stock of ongoing work of eye bank and infrastructural facilities being created to make it functional. He directed the management of the hospital to ensure timely completion of eye bank and calls for launching State wide awareness camp for eye donation.
Later, Health Minister chaired a meeting with the senior functionaries of GMC and discussed the measures being taken for construction of water filtration plant for the hospital. He asked the concerned officials to submit a comprehensive report in this regard to his office.
The meeting was attended by Principal GMC, Dr Sunanda Raina, Administrator Associated Hospitals, Dr Shubhra Sharma, Medical Superintendent MCH, Dr Romesh Kumar Gupta, Medical Superintendent SMGS Hospital, Dr Dara Singh besides HODs & other senior functionaries and doctors.
