Bali, Jugal take stock of people’s grievances

JAMMU, Nov 22: Minister for Forests and Social Welfare, Bali Bhagat and Jammu-Poonch MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, today conducted an extensive tour of Raipur-Domana constituency and took stock of the developmental activities and people’s grievances.
During their tour, they inaugurated a culvert at Domana constructed at a cost of Rs 3 lakh under MPLAD and also laid foundation of a playground to be developed at a cost of Rs 10 lakh under Model Village Programme at Panchayat Kangrail.
Addressing a largely attended public meeting at Panchayat Kangrail, the Minister said that Coalition Government was committed to the holistic development of every nook and corner of the State under a well-knit programme. He said the people will see a sea change on the ground during the next some months as the results of the decisions taken during the past six months will start giving dividends. He said the period of six months by any regime is too small to judge its performance, but the Government is making sincere efforts to mitigate the problems of the people on priority.
He said within next one month all the link roads connecting the constituency will be blacktopped as tender process has already been complete. The work of blacktopping on some roads including, Jammu-Akhnoor road has already commenced. He said an amount of Rs. 8 lakh has already been spent under MG NREGA on various works and another Rs. 35 lakh have been approved as supplementary plant to undertake some important works in the constituency.
The Minister announced construction of 100 toilets under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) in the Kangrail Panchayat during the current year. He directed the Block Development Officer to identity the deserving beneficiaries on priority and start the work immediately. He said a community hall has also been approved to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 20 lakh in the Panchayat as a part of Model village convergence.
Jugal Kishore Sharma highlighted the programmes and polices of the Centre and State Governments and said that it is endeavor of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure all round development of Jammu and Kashmir to make it a prosperous State in the country. He said both Centre and State Governments are working honesty to address the problems of the common masses with transparency and accountability at all levels. He said the financial package of Rs. 80,000 crore announced by the Prime Minister will transform the State’s profile, adding that there is no dearth of funds and our officers have to be proactive to implement the package in letter and spirit.
To mitigate the long pending demand of the people of the border people of Khour and Pargwal area, the Government was contemplating to construct a bridge over river Chenab around Jourian to connect dozens of villages of Khour block with Pargwal and Jammu. He said the proposal is under the active consideration of the Centre and shortly a decision is expected. He said the previous NC-Congress regime laid foundation of the same bridge twice but only on papers and just befooling the masses.
Later, the Minister also participated in an Annual Day function of R.P. High School at Ban Talab and distributed prizes among the meritorious students who excelled in the academic as well co-curricular activities.
