Balkrishna’s judicial custody extended till Aug 27

DEHRADUN, Aug 13: A local court here today extended till August 27 the judicial custody of Swami Ramdev’s close aide Balkrishna in a case regarding using fraudulant documents to get an Indian passport.
A co-accused in the same case, principal of Shri Radhakrishna Sanskrit Mahavidyalay at Khurja, Uttar Pradesh  Naresh Chand Dwivedi, who was also produced in the court along with Balkrishna was also sent into judicial custody for 14 days, sources here said.
Dwiwedi had surrendered on August 6 and his bail plea would come up for hearing on August 16 at the Sessions court. Dwiwedi has been accused by the CBI of providing Balkrishna, allegedly a Nepali citizen, with the fake educational documents to help get him the Indian passport.
Balkrisha was arrested on July 20 from Patanjali Yogpith in Haridwar and his bail plea has been turned down by the sessions court, His lawyers said they were preparing to move the High Court to seek relief.
In his earlier interactions with mediapersons, Balkrishna had expressed regret that he was not beside Baba Ramdev in New Delhi to boost his crusade against black money.
The CBI has registered a case against Balkrishna with violating section 12 of the Indian Passport Act (knowingly furnishing false documents for getting passport) and under section 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 468 and 471 of the IPC for mainly procuring fake documents and using it to get the passport.
