JAMMU, Nov 30: Police have launched investigations into recovery of an alleged threat letter by the militants tied with a balloon which landed in the house of a retired College Principal near Niabat office at Sector 2 in Channi Himmat this afternoon.
SSP Jammu Tejinder Singh and SP City South Vinay Sharma along with police teams reached the spot immediately after getting the report.
Sharma later told Excelsior that police was working into all theories and hasn’t taken the threat letter casually.
“It’s a serious matter and we have taken all precautions,” he said.
According to police sources, the balloon from Pakistan side can’t reach at Channi Himmat and it seems to have been launched locally.
Moreover, they said, the threat letters by the militants are generally written on letter heads in Urdu. However, in this case, neither letter head of slain Zakir Moosa’s outfit has been used nor it was written in Urdu.
The threat letter was written in English with only two lines in Urdu, they said.
The threat letter was written on a page of the diary, which further gave credence to the theory of localized launch of the balloon with a motive to create panic among the people.
However, police said, they have taken the threat seriously and were taking all measures to thwart any designs of the militants or the anti-social elements.
“Even if it was a mischief, the accused have to be caught,” they said.
