MENDHAR, Sept 7: People from border belt of Balnoi in tehsil Mendhar held protest demonstration against the Revenue authorities for illegal allotments of Government land and encroachment on forest and State land in the area by some people.
Nearly 250 villagers of this area near LoC led by Naib Sarpanch came here in the morning and took out protest rally in the main bazaar. Then they moved towards main Chowk and then to the office of SDM Mandhar. The villagers held strong demonstration demanding cancellation of illegal allotments of State land and encroachment on forest and other State land.
The Naib Sarpanch alleged that many Government employees from Mendhar and even some influential persons from parties have managed to get alloted land in Balnoi area. In connivance with some key Revenue officials they got the land allotted illegally. A large chunk of land in Kanna forest belt has also been grabbed some influential politicians.
SDPO Mendhar Amit Bhasin and the SDM Mendhar assured the villagers to hold inquiry into the matter and get the allotments cancelled if found fraudulent. The villagers then suspended their agitation and dispersed.
