JAMMU, Feb 21: Veteran Congress leader Rani Gargi Baloria, her son-in-law among three candidates were today elected unopposed as Members of Legislative Council (MLC) here.
Three candidates have been declared elected unopposed to the Legislative Council Seats, M Ramzan, Secretary State Legislative Assembly, who is also Retiring Officer for biennial election of the J&K Legislative Council here said.
The elected MLCs, including Rani Gargi Baloria from Congress, her son-in-law Devinder Singh Rana from ruling National Conference and Yashpal Sharma from mainstream opposition People’s Democratic Party.
Mr Rana, who has been elected for the second consecutive term, is presently holding a charge of National Conference Provincial President for Jammu.
Meanwhile, Mr Ramzan said that today was the last date for withdrawal of candidature.
However, Mr Naresh Kumar Gupta and Mr Mohammad Iqbal will be contesting for district Doda and Mr Mohammad Muzaffar Parrey, Mr Showkat Hussain Ganie, Mr Abdul Majeed, Mr Syed Naeem Akhtar Andrabi and Mr Shuban Krishen Dudha will be contesting for Kashmir Province. (AGENCIES)
