JAMMU, Feb 17: Natrang inaugurated its ten -day theatre workshop at its studio theatre here, today. The workshop was inaugurated by Director Natrang, Padamshree Balwant Thakur.
The workshop will include exercises focusing on team building, acting skills, understanding different characters, method acting and personality development games. The main focus of this workshop will be on intensive training and direct contact of actors with directors.
The training will encourage young talents who wish to enhance their acting, dance and music skills. This workshop will help freshers to overcome their stage fright, overcome their hesitation and to gain confidence and develop their personality.
The workshop will be conducted by Aarushi Thakur Rana who is an Indian origin and UK based actor and director. At the budding age of 27, she has established herself as a prominent professional theatre director/actor and is a recognized personality in the State of Jammu & Kashmir. Having graduated from one of the country’s most prestigious academic institutes St Stephens College, Delhi, Aarushi went on to pursue her academic interests by completing a Masters in International Politics from the University of Leicester in the UK.
Despite her strong intellectual background and academic prowess Aarushi decided to explore the unconventional field of the creative arts. She underwent training under workshops conducted by NSD, Delhi in 2016 and Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, London in 2012.
Now Aarushi Thakur Rana’s career consists of more than 10 full length plays all written and directed by her.
She has performed internationally as an actor in the year 2011 in Russia and Germany and her directorial ventures have been presented in Chandigarh, Mumbai, Amritsar and at Kingdom of Dreams in Delhi. Her new play In Her Shoes has been performed in Kala Ghoda Arts festival in February 2018, at Naatshaala, Amritsar and at Indore recently.
The workshop is being coordinated by Mohammad Yaseen who is a National scholarship holder in theatre from Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The participants who attended the inaugural session included Shivam Sharma, Iftkhar Mughal, Shivam Dutta, Samarthya Gupta, Ayushi Pandita, Chetan Choudhary, Meenakshi Bhagat, Ashley Mehta, Ashish Thakur, Akash Bhat, Goutam Sharma, Ajay Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Zeeshan Haider, Toyab Hussain, Sushant Charak, Rahul Gupta, Sidhant Sathu, Abhi Bargotra, Shivam Singh, Kushal Sharma, Arun Kumar and Brijesh Avtar Sharma.
