JAMMU, Dec 14: Reacting over National Green Tribunal opinion which claimed that the environment body has banned the chanting of mantras in the Amarnath shrine, former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today said that this is totally wrong.
“It is a direct attack on our religion. We won’t tolerate this autocratic directive,” Bhalla said, adding that this move would invite country wide strong reaction and protest.
Bhalla went on to question whether chanting of religious hymns and slogans could actually cause noise pollution. This temple is home to a natural Shivlingam and is considered one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism and so the opinion must be reviewed in view of sentiments of crores of devotees attached with this historical religious place. The logic given behind this ban seems to be unjustified.
Interacting with the people of Nai Basti in Gandhi Nagar here today, former minister expressed concern over problems of common people multiplying with each passing day, saying it seems that the PDP-BJP coalition government is yet to take off despite over half of tenure of being in office in Jammu and Kashmir.
Except for pursuing anti-people policies, the Coalition Government has bade farewell to development and governance”, Bhalla said during an interaction with prominent persons of Nai Basti area of Gandhi Nagar constituency today. He said that the impact of the Government is zero in rural and far-off areas with infrastructural development and utility services remaining in shambles. He said the woes of people speak volumes about the failure of Govt on all fronts.
“The Government has not only failed on development front but it has also not been able to seek solution to political issues, as a result of which the State underwent a most traumatic phase this year”, the former minister said, adding that the unprecedented crisis took toll of governance that left the people of the entire state to fend for themselves.
While scarcity of rations at the CAPD sale outlets caused enormous hardships to the consumers, the erratic power and drinking water supply added to their miseries. He said that utility services are almost in shambles with Coalition Government just doing lip service.
