IMPHAL, Mar 22 : Manipur government has completely lifted the ban on mobile internet. Dr Vineet Joshi, Chief Secretary said in an order on Friday that after reviewing the prevailing law and order situation and requirement of internet services related to the ensuing General Lok Sabha Elections-2024 it was decided to revoke the suspension of operation of the Mobile towers.
Following a crisis that started at Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, and Moreh on May 3, 2023, in which government offices were burnt people belonging to a particular ethnic groups were attacked their houses burnt internet was banned.
Internet was gradually opened and Internet mobile services remained suspended in the border areas of some districts to stop the spread of rumours.
Further, all internet users were requested to refrain from activities that may cause situations that will warrant for suspension of internet services in the future. (UNI)
