RAJOURI, Jan 4: A bandh was observed in Jawahar Nagar area of Rajouri town in protest against the arrest of three boys by police.
On the second consecutive day today, shops and business establishments in Jawahar Nagar area remained closed, as mark of protest against the alleged arrest of three youth who were allegedly involved in the beating up a local youth and attack on policemen including ASI Mohan Lal, causing them injuries.
The locals of the area including BJYM activists and Beopar Mandal members alleged that police was acting as biased and picked up boys from particular community. While police said that they have booked some people who had attacked a youth and also resorted to stoning on police party. It said that action under law would be taken against the accused involved in the attack.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the locals of the area along with Beopar Mandal members was held here today. It was resolved to meet the SSP and take up the issue with him tomorrow. Yesterday also a meeting was held with the police authorities which remained inconclusive.
