SRINAGAR, Nov 4: National Conference (NC) leader Advocate Nazir Ahmad Malik today rued the lack of development in Bandipora district despite being accorded district status in the year 2007.
In a statement issued here, he said Bandipora exists as a district only in namesake with no quality infrastructure and lack of basic amenities ruling the roost in the district. “Bandipora does not have even the Dak Banglow of its own to conduct important meetings and despite having enormous tourism potential has always been neglected,” he added.
“The all important road between Srinagar Bandipora is in shambles and so are the other roads of the district. Load shedding is the order of day despite ample water resources of Bandipora lighting homes across India through electricity generation,” he said.
Malik said the district is facing water shortage despite supplying water to entire valley.”The corrupt representatives who are inefficient and made life hell for honest officers have ensured that Bandipora remains in dark ages and this is the reason even the district hospital of Bandipora does not even have facilities of a primary health center,” he alleged.
